Vintage 2022

Having three good vintages one after the other is a very rare thing. All wine producers want it but it almost never happens. <<In my professional career it is the first time I see a terzina of TOP vindemmie as 2020, 2021 and 2022 and I am in the wine world for over forty years>> said Donatella Cinelli Colombini complaining about one thing: they were three vendemie scarce, especially the last.

Few grapes very good and healthy because of the 2021 frost that has prolonged its effects in the following year and especially because of the seven months of drought that have put a strain on the vines and the winegrowers forced to plow the soil continuously. 2022 was a very hot year and the sprouting took place earlier, leading to an early harvest compared to the normal calendar. Sangiovese grapes were small, sparsely, perfectly ripe with berries as large as chickpeas. The grapes that every producer would like to bring into the cellar but in minimal quantities.

Fattoria del Colle has always produced Chianti until, in 1997, the new superior type was born and Donatella Cinelli Colombini decided to focus on selecting the grapes from the best vineyards and producing a wine capable of telling the Tuscan tradition. He had a new label designed with the three goblets symbol of the town of Trequanda where is located the Fattoria del Colle. A strong label, evoking the standards of medieval tournaments. It is located in the south of Tuscany, 404 meters above sea level. The soil is from the new quaternary age with sea sands and clays. The vineyards were planted on top of the hills in a ventilated and well exposed position to the sun.
